Corrosion Evolution of High-Strength Aluminum Alloys in the Simulated Service Environment of Amphibious Aircraft in the Presence of Chloride and Bisulfite

The corrosion evolution of 2024-T351 and 7075-T651 aluminum alloys in the thin electrolyte layer (TEL) wet–dry alternating cycle (WDAC) environment is studied this work. results show that TEL environment, competitive effect between H+ accelerates reactions deposition sulfate impedes attacks exists during exposure. difference with increasing HSO3−, subsurface intergranular on promoted to form exfoliation eventually degree begins decrease because blocking exceeds expediting H+. For 7075-T651, area diameter gradually, which attributed HSO3−-enhanced products their effect. In WDAC processes are acidic dissolution matrix soaking phase. When HSO3− concentration high enough (0.1 M), inhibiting becomes dominant factor.
